MotoScotland is the first UK off road training centre to have its off road training courses endorsed by government, motorbike insurers and council road safety departments. This is because uniquely, we show you how to use our all our off road skills in your day to day road riding. This dramatically improve your competence and confidence in controlling motorbikes on slippy surfaces, slow speed skills and gives you significantly improved bike balance - all of which makes you a much safer rider on the road.

Level 1

1 day (6.5-7 hours per day) £249

Level 1 is aimed at licensed road riders who are novice to off road riding.

The price includes everything you should need - including:-

•    Trail/dual purpose motorbike hire
•    Fuel

•    Safety briefing and expert tuition from A.C.U. qualified coaches
•    Road risk insurance

In this course, you will learn: -

•    Off-road motorcycle controls and familiarity
•    The basics of handling an off-road motorcycle
•    How to pick up a dropped bike safely
•    The correct riding position
•    Where to look/vision
•    Clutch control
•    Slow speed manoeuvres
•    Riding while standing on the foot pegs
•    Steering using foot pegs
•    Correct braking techniques
•    An afternoon of trail riding on suitable tracks and trails to practise your new skills
•    General motorbike confidence

Level 2 is aimed at licensed road riders who are novice to off road riding who wish to develop a foundation of key off road skills. Level 2 incorporates Level 1 on the first day of the course.

This is for customers who have completed the “Level 2” and want to develop stronger skills on control while enjoying the amazing tracks, trails and scenery.

•    Momentum climbs
•    Hill climbs
•    Steep descent control
•    "Polaris" trails
•    Spin turns and pivot turns
•    Crossing tracks
•    Jumping a motorbike, e.g. over puddles, ruts, off ledges, etc.
•    Berms
•    Camber riding
•    Riding soft ground – mud/grass, etc.
•    Trail riding to level 3 over the 2 day course

Trail Riding or Skill Practice Session - Level 1, 2 or 3

This is for customers who have completed one of our training courses and want a chance to practise their skills and use them while trail riding at that level.  These courses are trail based which means that you can strengthen your skills and confidence while enjoying our fantastic variety of tracks and trails.

The moment you stop practising is the moment you start losing valuable skills! So, what is more important than coming to practise what you have learned in our courses?

Come to the stunning Scottish Highlands to practise and perfect your techniques - all to the beautiful backdrop of forests, lochs, dams, mountains – you might even see some of our beautiful Scottish wildlife and marine life!

One or two day course available giving you focused riding with an ACU instructor – a real chance to delight in your skill consolidation and even more off road motorbiking fun.

Bring My Own Bike

1 or 2 days depending on course chosen 1 DAY COURSE: £200; 2 DAY COURSE: £400

You can attend MotoScotland training and experiences on your own bike whether that is for training on Levels 1 to 3 or for off road experience day(s), provided: -

•    The bike is road legal, taxed and has a current M.O.T. (where applicable)
•    You have road insurance in place that covers you for the bike to be used at MotoScotland
•    The bike is in good running condition and has been appropriately set up for off road use, e.g. bash plate, knobbly tyres, etc.

The price includes the following:-

•    Clothing and safety kit (as described in our Frequently Asked Questions section)
•    Safety briefing and expert tuition from A.C.U. qualified coaches
•    Accompanied access to 50,000 acres of stunning scenery

BRING YOUR OWN BIKE INSURANCE

MotoScotland is delighted to be able to offer you, via Bikesure, short term insurance cover to use your own road legal off road/dual purpose motorbike for your off road training course at MotoScotland. Some insurers can have a written exemption for cover in their policies which may be in the small print. This could mean that your bike is not covered in the event of an incident.
